Creative Eyes

Meets every third Monday of the month, run by Bob Fisher.

Whether you are a beginner or an expert, you will be welcome. We are all about:

  • creativity
  • inspiration
  • imagination

We have one overriding rule: there are no rules!

Members are given two subject themes each month to inspire their photography and creativity. Interpretation of the theme is entirely down to the individual photographer.

How the group works

Group facilitator Bob Fisher explains:

“We are a very friendly, inclusive group. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a beginner or an expert.

“The keyword to describe the group is creative. It’s about ideas, inspiration and originality, all key building blocks in photography. The purpose of the group is to provide some useful practice to achieve them!

“Creative Eyes is all about what happens before you take the photograph. There’s a difference between a snap and an image. A snap is simply pointing the camera and making a straight recording of what’s already there and obvious.

“An image means putting something of yourself into the image and bringing out by one means or another something that’s not immediately obvious or by implicitly posing a question to the viewer or by using one of the many other techniques available. A strong image will engage the viewer in a way that a snap never will.

“We have two themes a month, selected by group members. Other than the theme title, the only rule is that there are no rules. It’s about individual interpretation.  Each theme provides an opportunity for members to stretch their boundaries a little and improve their photography. Recent themes have included: ‘Circles and Curves’, ‘Contre Jour’, ‘White’, and ‘Intentional Camera Movement’.

“We meet once a month on Zoom, so if you would like to spend an entertaining evening talking photography with like-minded people and picking up some hints and tips along the way, then Creative Eyes is the group for you.

“Come on down and join us, with or without images.”
