Muir is a photographer based in London and Edinburgh. His work has appeared in some of the world's most highly respected publications, including Vogue, The New York Times Magazine, The Sunday Times Magazine, Time and Stern. Many of his photographs have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and are collected by galleries and museums such as the National Portrait Gallery, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art and the Royal Academy of Arts. His advertising and corporate clients include O2, Ogilvy, BBC, ABC News, Bloomberg, Home House, Rough Trade Records and the National Theatre. He describes himself as a 'camera-wielding merman'.

Join Jet as she talks about why so many photographers have fallen out of love with photography, and how by using the camera in your pocket, you can fall back in love with it again. Jet will also be giving some top tips about how to get the best out of your smartphone camera, so make sure you have it with you during the talk. Jet runs masterclasses on iphone skills and mastery and the power of conscious observation. This is suitable for any make and model of phone.

Andrea DiCenzo, Photo Editor at WaterAid, will share how compelling photography can be a powerful force for change for communities in developing countries around the World. WaterAid is an international non-profit organisation with one aim: to change the world through safe and sustainable water, hygiene and sanitation. Through their 'Community Voices programme', WaterAid's local officers, filmmakers and photographers in developing countries gather authentic, first-hand stories using film and photography to change minds and influence decision-makers. The programme puts communities in control of their own stories, ensuring their stories are shared respectfully and accurately from the community's own perspective. This is not a paying evening but donations to WaterAid would be much appreciated.

Margot Raggett comes to us again with her latest book in the 'Remembering Wildlife' series: 'Remembering Giraffes'. Each year she publishes a book with world class images from the top wildlife photographers worldwide. Margot has raised over £1.4 million for her wildlife charity over the years and received an MBE for her work in 2023. Her visit to RTPS coincides with the book's worldwide launch at the Royal Geographical Society. She will share the images with us along with stories of her latest conservation work. Margot's talk is always one of the highlights of the RTPS calendar.

Carol Allen Storey is an award-winning photojournalist specialising in chronicling complex humanitarian and social issues. Her imagery illuminating people's quest for survival reflects the unique trust and respect she engenders with her subjects. Carol is an international judge for photography competitions including the Sony World Photography Organisation, the BJP Awards and the Ian Parry Grant. Clients include Save the Children, Elton John AIDS Foundation, Comic Relief, Channel 4 and the BBC. In 2024, Carol was a Gold winner in the Association of Photographers Project Awards.

Anthony Bates is an award winning photographer. Anthony has a special interest in regeneration and will tell the story of the creation of his book which traces the remarkable transformation of London's South Bank from its post-war rebirth at the 1951 Festival of Britain to its status today as a world-leading cultural district. His book, 'Regeneration: 75 Years of London's South Bank', uncovers how bold vision, architecture, and the arts reshaped a once-neglected riverside into a thriving public realm. He will tell the story of why he was drawn to one of London's most fascinating and constantly changing places, and how photography became a way of documenting not just buildings, but the people who give those spaces life. Anthony will also share some of his street photography which he describes as noticing the extraordinary in the ordinary, He focuses on documenting people, urban environments and spontaneous events often with an emphasis on storytelling, atmosphere and the human condition revealing beauty, emotion or unexpected aspects of ordinary life.

This is an evening not to be missed. Andy's love affair with wildlife began at a very tender age, and for the last 30 years he has made this childhood obsession his life and career. Working as a photojournalist and wildlife photographer, Andy continues to travel the globe in the pursuit of stories and images portraying the beauty and the struggles of the natural world. From the barren tundra of the High Arctic to the depths of the Congo Basin, the Himalayas to the jungles of South America, and with a bunch of stops in between, Andy will take us on a whistle stop tour of recent and ongoing commissions for the likes of BBC Wildlife amongst others, sharing the euphoric highs, and the considerable lows, of working at the frontline of the natural world. This fast-paced evening is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat as you get to experience the realities of working with wildlife in some of the more extreme locations on the planet. In addition to a range of hilarious stories and anecdotes, Andy will reveal just how to secure the type of shot that a job such as his requires, as well as some invaluable advice on when to run and when to hide! This is a night for ALL the family, and not just the photographer in your midst!
